We grow and sell fresh vegetables, herbs, and other products that are good for you because we believe that food is medicine. We also make salves, tinctures, tomato sauce, cowboy candy, and scape pesto. Our products are available for local sales and restaurant sales.
Garlic
I grow garlic on our farm in Virginia. I started growing garlic six years ago when my good friend Kelli O'Neill sent me some music garlic to get me started. Kelli has grown music garlic in Ohio for over 20 years. This year, I planted about 3,000 cloves, mostly music with some soft neck varieties. Music is a hard neck variety that produces scapes, which I sell and also use to make scape pesto. Garlic is our largest crop.
Calendula Salve and lip balm
I grow the calendula from seed. After drying, I use olive oil to extract the calendula, slowly, on a north-facing windowsill for three months. The beeswax I use is either local or from my friend at Island Bees on Long Island. In addition to the two basic ingredients, I may also use coconut oil, vitamin C or E, hemp seed oil, or a scented oil. Each small batch comes with a list of the ingredients used.
North Ga Candy Roaster
I grow candy roaster squash on my farm in Virginia. I didn't know about this squash until a chef asked me if I grew it. I looked it up online and decided to give it a try. I love this squash! It's very tasty and weighs in at about 10 pounds. I like to use it in soups with my garlic, tart apples, and broth.
